Higgler charged with murder

Twenty-five-year-old Demario Ferguson, otherwise called 'Mari,' a higgler of Clark's Lane, Bounty Hall, Trelawny, has been charged with murder following a stabbing incident in Runaway Bay, St Ann, on January 14.

The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old taxi operator Paul Miller of Mount Edgecombe, Runaway Bay, St Ann. Reports from the St Ann's Bay police are that at 2 a.m., Ferguson reversed a Toyota Axio motor car and hit Miller's Toyota Pro Box vehicle. A tussle ensued between them, during which Miller was stabbed in his neck. Miller was assisted to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Following the stabbing, Ferguson and three other companions fled the scene. The vehicle later crashed along the Runaway Bay main road, and the men were accosted by the police, who transported them to the hospital for treatment.

Following further investigation, Ferguson was charged after a question-and-answer session. His court date is being finalised.
